Spotlight 

I produced and led MAKE Space workshops at Spotlight Youth Club as part of a two-year outreach programme ahead of the opening of V&A East’s creative studios in May 2025. The radically inclusive, drop-in sessions supported young people aged 10–19 to explore textiles through weaving, embroidery, visible mending and tufting while developing their creativity and building creative confidence.

Participants were introduced step-by-step to specialist equipment, enabling independent creative use.

The open-studio model combined hands-on making with light-touch facilitation, exploring themes of fashion circularity, upcycling and activism while responding to the need for accessible space, materials and guidance. Non-accredited and accessible, the programme prioritised trust-building, challenged barriers to participation, and supported creative skills, self-expression and awareness of pathways into the creative sector, with evaluation informing future Open Studio development.
